Ahh.. the things you find out from watching Graham Norton...

Ahh... the show...

Hey naaa... hey naaa... the 80's are back!
Greetings! Salutations! Aloha! Somehow, another print edition of Howling at the Moon is flying across cyberspace! As promised, the 80's played a big part in this show! I normally take a batch of 80's compilations with me, but sometimes they wind up taking over the show! I must have brought a nice variety of songs, because there is a great little set towards the end of the show that practically wrote itself. As usual, prep was minimal. The upside of that is I get a little braver about pulling random stuff from the library. Not too much was selected from the station this week. Somehow, as usual, most of the music came from my own li'l stash!

The Cure ----------------------------- Killing an Arab
Frank Zappa -------------------------- Keep it Greasey
Modest Mouse ------------------------- Float On
Rick James --------------------------- Super Freak
Midnight Oil ------------------------- Beds Are Burning
Chumbawamba -------------------------- I'm Not Sorry, I Was Having Fun
Cake --------------------------------- Never There
Shel Silverstein --------------------- Stone Telling
Ken Nordine -------------------------- Adult Kindergarten
Barenaked Ladies --------------------- La La La La Lemon
Macha -------------------------------- (Do The) Inevitable (a)
The Presidents of the USA ------------ Lunatic to Love
Gotohells ---------------------------- Just What I Needed
INXS --------------------------------- New Sensation
Culture Club ------------------------- Church of the Poison Mind
The Police --------------------------- Synchronicity
Psychedelic Furs --------------------- Love My Way
Kim Carnes --------------------------- Betty Davis Eyes
Sweet -------------------------------- Fox On The Run
Frankie Goes To Hollywood ------------ Relax
Naked Eyes --------------------------- Always Something There To Remind Me
The Clash ---------------------------- Should I Stay or Should I Go?
Dexy's Midnight Runners -------------- Come On Eileen
Billy Squier ------------------------- Rock Me Tonight
Adrian Belew ------------------------- The Lone Rhinoceros
The Beatles -------------------------- Hey Bulldog
Arhitecture in Helsinki -------------- The Owls Go (a)
Rev. Horton Heat --------------------- Johnny Quest/Stop That Pigeon
The Farmers -------------------------- Cocodile Rock
Squirrel Nut Zippers ----------------- Trou Macacq
The Cure ----------------------------- Hanging Garden
Bigwig ------------------------------- Freegan

Well, it was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't a bad show! The song by The Cure was supposed to be The Love Cats, but I fell asleep at the wheel, practically. I really need to remember to check the players before I play the songs!

On a side note---currently playing on the DVD... Space Cowboys... if you haven't seen it, it's a great movie with some wonderful old names. Clint Eastwood, James Garner, Tommy Lee Jones... Donald Sutherland.. Might be the thing to do in between hurricane stories this weekend!!

RAKUGAKI KINGDOM

From our cheap humor department....

Your "doodle" comes to 3-dimensional life, moves, and fights!!

Wow! I never knew my doodle could do so much! I'm impressed!

Heck, that's as good a page to link to as any!

Hey... here's an odd thing...

Were you a comic book reader in the 80's?
I don't know about later era books, but BOY were they littered with ads for video games!!! WOW!
